Fall is right around the corner and we honestly can't wait. Our Summer wardrobe has always been a bit lacking compared to our Fall wardrobe and recently our shelves of sweaters, rows of Winter sportcoats, and hangers of wool, cashmere, and tweed ties have been calling our name. So, while we are still rocking cotton lightweight ties, we're gearing up for cooler weather with some wool ties from our new friends at Hitsman (pronounced heights-man).
The American handmade brand was launched by Michael Hitsman in January of 2010 when he was making the ties in his own garage. One thing led to another, and he started selling the ties online and in a few stores this last winter. Since then, he's been busy expanding to stores nationwide while keeping operations at home in New York. Michael's great grandfather was one of the first tailors in Kansas, and his grandfather carried his legacy as a tailor for many years. His father is also a haberdasher and his brother, who owns Old Time Angler - an online hunting and fishing business, is a big part of the tie business and helps with advertising, designs, etc.
We were recently able to sample a few pieces from their Fall collection. A deep navy solid along with a red, navy and black houndstooth, about 2 and 3/4 inches at the widest point, handmade, bar tacked, and loop stitched with a midweight feel. Both of which will pair nicely with our tweed sportcoats, lambswool sweaters, and pinwale cords when the leaves are changing colors. Check out the lookbook HERE.
